The tariff set by the competent Local Area Office (ATO Authority) and approved by the Authority for Electricity, Gas and Water System (AEEGSI), is calculated in such a way as to cover the management costs of the drinking water supply, wastewater collection and treatment services and to guarantee the return of the investments made on networks and systems.

The tariff can be broken down into the following items:

• water supply service tariff (amount that varies according to the measured drinking water consumption);
• sewer service tariff (also proportional to the consumption of drinking  water);
• treatment service tariff (also proportional to the consumption of drinking water);
• fixed amount;
• equalization costs established by AEEGSI (e.g. UI1).
