MM was commissioned by RFI to design and construct the Rho-Fiera station. The station is situated beside the new Fair centre along the existing Milan-Gallarate and Milan-Novara lines and the new Milan-Turin high-capacity line.
The station is not only the westernmost station of Milan for the high-capacity system and the Regional Railway Service, it is also an interchange station with both Underground railway line 1, and with public and private road transport, through a car park and a bus terminal.
The station consists of six lines 450 m long and a hall on the lower floor, connected directly by underground corridors with the interchange to the North, the Rho-Fiera Milan station on Line M1 and the Fair to the South. The hall and the platforms are linked by lifts and escalators, while the corridors to the Fair and Line 1 have a moving walkway. The works were begun in July 2005 and completed in April 2009.
